A Isle in the Tyrrhenian Sea, set in the offing of the gulf of Gaeta. It is the largest and most important in the archipelago that gives its name (isole Ponziane o Pontine). It is 7.5 sqKm with 3200 inhabitants. It has a volcanic origin, with steep and numerous stacks. This isle has many grottoes and small bays, such as, the most famous are Cala dell'Acqua, Cala Fontana and Cala d'Inferno. Its only real centre is the village of Ponza, on the South-east coast, fishery harbour and slip dock for sea service with the mainland.

Leaving from Ponza, this route allows you to do what I state a real holiday in a boat: wonderful bays, a crystal-clear water and an abundant in fish sea. From there in a short distance you may reach Ponza, Palmarola and Ventotene - max. 25 miles far. For those who love long sailing, there is Ischia and Procida 46 miles far, other two real pearls of the Mediterranean Sea. If you have never been there, I highly recommend you Pontine isles this year.
